About Us
Mission and Philosophy
Provide classes in therapeutic riding and hypotherapy to young people with physical and mental disabilities, to improve their quality of life, their physical and intellectual capacities and their integration into society.
History
AHT started its activity in 1989 at the Manuel Possolo Hipódromo in Cascais. In 2005, AHT moved to the Royal Country Club Dom Carlos I where the association was able to own their facilities in Cascais. AHT has a very large number of volunteers, a professional therapeutic riding monitor, and special teaching helpers. The sessions take place every day of the week during the academic period, with about 100 happy and enthusiastic riders.
Become a Volunteer
Volunteers are essential in every area of AHT life.
People can support AHT in many different ways – and we always need more. Whatever skills you can bring, giving your time to your local AHT group will mean that more disabled people can enjoy the therapy and fun of horses.
Volunteering with AHT should be rewarding and fulfilling – and we want you to benefit from your time with us. Our programme of volunteer training means it’s not just our participants who get the chance to learn and achieve their goals.
AHT is a diverse organization and we are at our best when we bring together people of different ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
